some visual inspiration
for semester two and finalizing my project:

It's really mesmerizing watching the cloud chamber.

there was earlier similar American project that I know of in the early 90s or late 80s of a subject that donated his body for science experiments, but I can't find any record of it on interwebs as its not an infinite source of knowledge or information unfortunately:/

Fallowing my work from the semester 1 and trying to uphold to the schedule that I set myself for completing stages of my final project I have arrived close to my plan in midsemester 2. Through the beginning of the semester 2 I was still playing catch up with my lost work from the semester 1 and trying to reconstitute and replenish my research for the project. In the end of the previous semester, I’ve managed to prototype a working proof of concept for my final design of an animated installation. In this semester I’ve finalised my design for the installation, prepared some visualisation of the working principal and started on the construction of the final piece after gathering the necessary materials. I’ve been also working on creating animated and some programable content to be presented by the device using different animating techniques from photography stop motion to computer animation, 3d scanning, and physics simulations.
I’m almost ready to regather all of my research in a suitable arrangement as a presentation materials that would finally tie in my Practice Led Dissertation with my final work for the project. The whole of my research alongside my final piece would be presented on the 4th Year exhibition creating one coherent whole.
In the beginning of this semester I’ve planned on reconstructing the lost work and finishing the series of short animations exploring different animation techniques leading to my final piece.
This part of my project is almost complete I have only 2 shorts that I’m still want to finish for the project background research.
Also constructing the animated installation that would be the focal point of my final work for the course.
This part is on the way, I’ve started on constructing circuits and gathered all the necessary electronics for the construction of the installation and designed the final look of the “box”.
The installation in itself supposed to gather and join all of the topics from my animated shorts and also my dissertation project in one coherent whole.
This part is almost ready and obviously it won’t be finished until the day of exhibition when it is presented.
reasearch towards final exhibion visual and technical aspects of my installation:

In last few weeks I’ve been working mostly on 10x10x20 project as an aid to replenish my unfortunately lost practical research for the project. (all the shorts can be found on the ECA animation Vimeo page Signed with my surname https://vimeo.com/showcase/7124931 )

here are few drawings concepts for the visualization that suppose to be part of the installation that now I think will completely disregard (for another time) and change from this part being driven by Egyptian Myths that this project was heavily influenced by to more abstract completely none narrative-driven visualization.
and some drawings for the Magneto short and another untitled short that I no longer wish to complete as there seem to be no public interested this content etc.

simple storyboard for the original visualisation

exhibition layout

The original plan for exhibiting my project (as above) suppose to comprise from two parts: the exhibition room where the monolithic looking device would be set in a dark room with the animated ferrofluid synchronised with an AR visualisation that could be viewed through any digital device (smartphone, tablet, AR googles) and second part that would be viewed in the main Animation exhibition room. On a PC in a main exhibition room you could view a series of short animations (besides my show reel and selection of shorts from 10x10) leading to my final project and could read through printout of my dissertation paper. The cycle of animations supposes to start with simple hand drawn and stop motion shorts through visual practical experiments, CGI animation and physics simulations to show gradual evolution of animation as medium of expression. I wanted all of the shorts and visual experiments relate in some way to antient Egyptian mythology not necessarily picturing directly any specific myth but rather giving hints to a viewer that encouraged might look for more material or origins of imagery by him/her self.

few physics simulation and animation tests:

I'll be changing a lot to my project dew to the current situation and uncertainty about the next months and final year exhibition as we are not sure if there will be one.

I might be doing some animation starting with lines:[ it's been said a long time ago don't put peanut butter on your fur ] or maybe I won't, still I will be updating the blog as my course soon comes to the end and it would be probably good if I would before the bitter end of this experience.

"A New Update"

As the situation constantly changes and thus fare my studies got to a halt in consequence of global panic caused by plague of a flu-related virus :/ Judging by the scale of media and govs panic I was expecting to see people dying on the streets and falling like fly’s in public transport. Obviously, nothing like that have happened. The situations change as they always do, we live on a planet hurling through space 490,000 miles per hour around the center of our galaxy, 67,000 miles per hour around the sun, 1,000 miles per hour on its own axis,  all of this is falling through intergalactic space with the increasing speed of universe expansion since the dawn of time. There are around 8 billion people living on surface of our planet each with 8 billion neurons in constant flux, so I think it’s hard for anything to be actually still here or not changing at all.

As people change their point of view changes and with it meaning or possible interpretation of things. Words and concepts start to mean different things depending on the context and when the context changes beyond our control this is where we fall in the hands of manipulation, offense, abuse, misunderstanding etc.

Therefore I decided to drop completely figurative and character-based narrative in my project. As people already being reading not only into what I am saying, writing or doing but also into my imagery trying to bend it to their will. I think I have been very unfortunate in the last few years being surrounded by this type of negative influence from all possible angles and levels.

As a time of final submission comes to a close soon and unfortunately there’s no new information about the exhibition (besides that at current situation it is not possible for it to happen)
I will be posting a restructured form of my project influenced by the current situation with the Covid lockdown of the University.
I’m unable to use the Colleges workshops and equipment thus construct the installation in the form that I was planning to, not mentioning that there will be no exhibition to speak of that it could be exhibited on. ( It requires direct human interaction to convey the visual ideas and present its full capacity to transmit visual information)

Therefore the project will be simplified, only a small example/prototype of the installation will be constructed to present the visual effect and technique. Instead of creating the interactive visualisation that would be working in real-time with the device I will produce more film like visualisation or a short film trying to use as much of my work done for the project to date as I can. I might be presenting an example of interactive visualisation with the small version of the installation but at this moment it is impossible to tell if that will be possible in any way.
All the materials for the visual aspects of my installation (3D animation) been produced in the highest resolution possible for me to achieve on the equipment I’ve been working on thus creating extremely large files. These are just not possible to upload to a blog/OneDrive or to be sent via email etc. in their current form. I have been working on reformatting the materials and project files in the last few weeks to accommodate these new requirements of the University lockdown of exchanging and presenting projects through online resources.

a very short photo sequance of making the box version 2 (it took about a week to make)

the small version of the device (the original installation supposed to have at least 60 coils to achieve somewhat usable resolution of the bevelled image, 6 x 10 rows rectangular)

[I stopped working on the large version when the university got shut as to make the large version, I would need to build it on site using college resources and workshops]
